“I reckon we should make our own kitchen cabinetry and joinery.”
That’s how it all started. Glen Kelman, owner of Kitchen Concepts, had been installing kitchens for years – kitchens made by someone else. It didn’t make sense to Glen that joiners would pack up the kitchen components and freight it all to Christchurch for him to unpack and install.
So, Glen took out a five-year lease on a commercial building and set up his own kitchen joinery factory.
Just 13 months later he had to move to bigger premises. That shows just how popular his Christchurch-made quality kitchens had become.
Taking control of the manufacturing made sense for 4 reasons:
- Unnecessary freight costs are no longer being passed on to you, the customer.
- The risk that the kitchen cabinets are damaged in transit – delaying your kitchen installation – is removed.
- You receive our own 10-year manufacturer’s warranty.
- Quality control is now as simple as any of the Kitchen Concepts team walking onto the factory floor and inspecting your kitchen.
In fact, we’ve even had customers visit the factory to see their new kitchen being made. They were quite excited about that!
